This is not the case at all. OP, I think you raise valid questions. Many of the animals in the shelters to begin with are b/c "owner passed away" (with no plan for their care or no family stepped in to help) or due to health problems. Kittens can be a 20 year commitment. While they can't legally say no b/c of your age, I think that should be a valid consideration. I saw a very elderly woman with her family - like a cute, wrinkly old woman waling with a cane- adopting two TINY kittens. No way she's outliving them. Then what? All I kept thinking is: I hope those family members will take those cats in the next 10 years. Meanwhile there were lots of older and senior cats being overlooked. [/quote]
