The Democrats in the Virginia Assembly voted down a proposed suspension of the gas tax. Gov. Youngkin was willing to sign it. Given that precedent, the Democrats in the General Assembly likely won't give you a break on your groceries, either. Go talk to the Democrats in the Virginia General Assembly. They are the ones who won't give you a break.
Not true. Democrats have been the ones for five years now attempting to cut the regressive grocery tax. Northam included it in his budget. I'm glad Glenn and the Republicans have finally come around. Democrats in 2022 repealed the state portion of the grocery tax effective January 1. The additional tax still incurred goes to local governments, and they rely on the revenue. Democrats want to end that tax but also want to make sure local governments have the revenue options to sustain themselves, so they are trying to work through other options to keep local revenue up when they finally end that additional grocery tax. Republicans are refusing to work together because they'd much rather just sit around and yell "Democrats are opposed to tax cuts," instead of actually working with Democrats to cut taxes.
