My team didn't even make the playoffs this year so I have no real dog in this fight, but I can't bring myself to root for the Bengals, even though they are a good team, because Joe Burrow just seems like an arrogant turd. He just really annoys me. I think the only way you get away with that level of showboating arrogance is if you are Tom Brady and back it up with championship after championship. But my sense is Burrow is more of a Phil Rivers. Go Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes I guess.
I'm from Ohio but not a Cincy fan. My DC's family is though. So I'm loathe to say anything nice about Cincinnati. That said . . . I don't find him obnoxious as a person. He seems pretty down to earth and genuine and people around him like him. HOWEVER, he needs some wardrobe advice (and hopefully he has a good financial manager), STAT. I think he must dress and pick out jewelry in the dark. We get it, you have money now. No need to dress so tacky and showy.
Down to earth? Have you ever heard him talk? And his “style” is not an accident of youth/inexperience. He dresses like an arrogant bro because that’s what he is. He got named to some fashion best dressed list— I don’t think it looks good but he dresses to attract attention to his clothes/persona and it’s effective. Two really badly timed interceptions in a tight game. Bengals might still pull this out because Mahomes is hobbling around on one leg and a lot of other injuries, but Burrow is not the elite QB he thinks he is.
I grew up in Ohio dipsh--. I've heard him talk many times. He's extremely generous in the community and everyone who knows him at all says nothing but great things about him. His "fashion", well, it's very "new money" and is tacky. As for his play, it speaks for himself. He didn't play as well as he normally does but, you know what, Mahomes (who I like) was in the same boat in the past. It happens. And, lbh, the refs heavily influenced that game. It was an appalling display of officiating. But, unfortunately, when you're also not playing your best, you're not going to make up for that, as well. The Bengals had a good run. Not my team. In fact, I pretty much despise Cincinnati teams but I do think they were not dealt a fair hand last night.
