There are a handful of 4 day weekends throughout the various FCPS calendars with early dismissal that could easily be stretched to a 5-6 day trip (especially for young kids). I’ll be using those instead of Spring Break/Christmas.
That’s nice for you, but those of us with kids in sports only have the option to travel at spring break.
I’m not sure why the expense of your spring break is the county’s problem. It isn’t. If you can’t afford to travel, you can stay home.
Mainly, Spring Break shouldn't be tied to a religious holiday and it currently is and is scheduled to continue to be so because that is what the counties around here do. You can argue that Spring Break is not on Easter but it is always scheduled to happen at the time of Easter. If Spring Break was decoupled from a religious holiday, then it would be easier for families to take vacations because it would be less expensive to travel. we are flying out to see family and the plane tickets were stupid expensive. It is annoying but we can afford it so we are grumbling but not changing our plans.
