[/quote] DC actually does pretty well in births and the birth rate has been on net a positive for the city as it has seen huge losses from domestic out-migration. DCs big problem is keeping people here, particularly young families. DC was able to benefit from the large Millennial demographic cohort preference for cities but the concern for the city has to be how to keep young Millennial families in the city now that they have moved from their 20/30s to 30/40s. Aside from the smart and timely rehabilitation and expansion of schools, they have done little else to address family needs and are certainly losing ground on safety. I wouldn’t have high hopes that DC will be able to ultimately reverse the long-term trend of young families leaving for the suburbs. [/quote]
