The point of having the roast chickens sold at a loss is that people will come in after work and pick up a chicken to feed the family when they are too tired to go home and cook and it's cheaper than takeout. But, while they are there (and hungry), they will pick up a bunch of other things to go with dinner, bread, sides, veggies, and often turn it into the quick shopping trip of things that they need before they can get there on the weekend. So, luring people in after work on weekdays to pick up a chicken that is sold under cost actually turns into a profit because most people won't just buy the chicken.[/quote]
