Trinidad and Near Northeast are the neighborhoods along H Street NE. I read that OP's hubby didn't want to live in Near Northeast, as opposed to "didn't even want to go there, ever, at all."

Again, getting sniffy about Shepherd Park/Colonial Village, probably a bit too high strung. Getting sniffy about Columbia Heights/Near Northeast, more reasonable.
