That's funny, cause my husband and I always made fun of those commercials. They actually show a mom feeding her kids a breakfast of nutella on wheat bread, cereal, and a banana and say something like "part of your nutritious breakfast". They also say that it's made from nuts with a hint of cocoa. Yeah right. They should have gotten sued - that's really manipulative advertising.
They say the same thing about Lucky Charms. That doesn't mean adding marshmallows to your cereal is healthy. At some point, the consumer needs to take the responsibility for what they're consuming.
Yes, but even so we do not need to roll over and let companies make outright lies about their product. Why should they not be sued? There is a misperception that the suit was filed by someone who was harmed after a lifetime of eating Nutella in ignorance. This is not true. She sued because the company lied about their product, in order to get them to stop doing it. The small financial compensation is not payment for a lifetime of health problems. It is a fine that is being distributed to the consumers instead of being pocketed by the regulators who should have fined the Nutella manufacturer but didn't. The bottom line here is that the regulators are letting crap ads go on the air and this person took a stand to stop it out of principle. Good job.
