I'll never forget that Air France plane that crashed with like a 12 year old alone on it. Man I'd never forgive myself if my young child had to go through a horror like that alone. Nope.
Or the stories of child sexual assaults on planes. I just don't understand why it is worth the risk. You have no idea who your child will be seated next to and there is literally no one there to help them. And no, the attendants are not spending a ton of time watching your child. They are fending for themselves.
Your child is seated next to me. I'm a 46 yr old white jewish female who works at a law firm and has no kids. It took until my late 20's to realize why every time I flew I somehow wound up next to a kid - it's because the flight attendants knew I was safe. I say hi, I offer your kid a piece of my gum, and then basically ignore them unless they talk to me, until the plane lands and then I ask who's meeting them and if they want me to stay with them until they find that person.
