I was just at the inner harbor yesterday. Even a block north was pretty seedy with what appeared to be junkies begging at every corner. I would not do it. I did see one window washer, but he didn't approach me. When I lived in NYC we just turned on our wipers and they knew they wouldn't get a tip and moved along.
In the 90's I lived in Federal Hill and would walk to work every day, up Charles St. I can't believe those Harborplace buildings are empty - what prime real estate! Nothing nicer than sitting outside on beautiful day having lunch or a drink after work. Where do you people go when there's a ball game? The Rusty Scupper is still there though? Is downtown Baltimore going to become what it used to be? That would be so sad.
The Harborplace buildings are empty because they are going to be redeveloped. They were bought by a national commercial real estate company maybe 10 years ago who went bankrupt and basically stopped caring for the properties and most tenants left for that reason. They were resold to a local developer this month.
