I live in PH.  I chose it over Vienna but I understand exactly what it is, and what it is not.  There's no point praising one and putting another down. They are very different depending on what one wants and prioritizes.

Very well-reasoned post, thank you.  I chose Vienna over PH.  Do I live in a "better" place?  No.  Better for me.  Everyone has different preferences.

I guess the only downside to any of this is that PH used to be a pocket of affordability for middle class homeowners and renters.  Vienna used to have more of this, but very little anymore.  Pretty soon the only affordable places to live in the greater tysons area will be apartments that they are forcing the developers to offer below market.  [/quote]
