I am 40. I don’t really buy trendy things to begin with but if something looks good on you, wear it! Who cares! Unless it’s a totally out there no one will bat an eye if you wear skinny jeans. Honestly. At least at my age I go for what looks flattering not what’s “trendy.” That being said I do love a high waisted pant and the crop tops too look good with those.
I think the issue with skinny jeans that can make them look dated isn’t the jeans themselves, it’s more the footwear and the shirt/cardigan you wear with them. They’re basically here to stay and are a flattering look for a lot of people.
Agree with this. They aren’t going to be the most trendy look, but if your shoes, top, and accessories are more up to date then they won’t look horribly out of place either. There are also straight cut options, which are like one step away. Not full on baggy mom jeans or flares (sorry, not wearing, I don’t care how trendy they are) but not as skinny.
PP here - adding as an example, an outfit of skinny jeans, a “shacket,” combat/lug sole boots, and delicate gold jewelry. It would be most on trend to wear a different style of jean, but this combo would be more flattering for my figure and still have some modern elements to freshen it up.
