Well, I guess if you compare a flagship with private schools (which all of those are), then yes — it’s not as strong; but it’s not a bad school at all.  UMass is respectable, does a lot of research (and earns a lot of grant money).  On top of that, my child (who currently attends UMass) is happy there and feels like he is learning a lot and has a lot of opportunities ahead of him.  [/quote]

My daughter is excited to apply to UMass! It might be because they have the best food on campus.  :mrgreen: But seriously, it seems like a nice, diverse school in a pretty setting. It's also well-regarded in her intended major. Glad to hear that you daughter really likes it![/quote]

It is diverse and the food is fantastic! :). More than that, my introvert child is getting involved in activities and making friends.  The school does a really good job creating opportunities to be part of a community.[/quote]
