That would be better than school board. I wouldn't vote for him but at least it's a relevant position for him to hold. As someone who's not a parent of a kid at FCPS and never has been, nor will be soon, his views on the School Board should be irrelevant. It's a travesty that someone w/ no direct connection or experience to the schools is taking up his seat (no, his spouse being a teacher does NOT count).
On the other hand, having a school board member be a parent or soon-to-be parent of a child in FCPS isn't necessarily any better. Their votes would be biased to favor their child's school and pyramid. I actually prefer having candidates with interest in helping the wider community without skin in the game. At least I find it easier to believe their votes would be far more neutral.
You are literally voting for someone to represent your area on the school board. Of course you should vote and work in the interest of those you represent.
PP was likely referring to people like Elaine Tholen, who promised to represent all the people in her district but turned out to be a lying hypocrite who only looks after the interests of her Great Falls neighbors. Kathy Smith was the same type of self-serving disgrace (her main achievement in years on the School Board was to to make sure the poorest neighborhood zoned to her neighborhood elementary school, Cub Run, got reassigned to a different school). Frisch is cut from the same cloth - a total hack without a college degree who has been a disaster as a School Board member.
