So you were going 9 miles an hour above the speed limit, and you are mad you got caught—speeding? It’s not like Americans are exempt from the rules of the road in other countries. Yes, you pay, dummy. Even under the Midwestern unofficial rules of the road, you’re guilty: “Eight, you’re fine; nine, you’re mine.”
Not 9 miles, 9 KM. That generally wouldn’t be ticketed in the states! Interesting, though, that consensus is they have better computer tracking systems in France than they do in the US.
Over is over. The law is the law. You pay. The end.
Yes, I would like to hear any sort of moral justification (it's clearly legally due). It is a law created for the clear purpose of safety (reasonable), by a duly elected government (not some random entity without appropriate authority). The speeding was more than 10% above the limit (so above a threshold that seems reasonable to cover errors in speedometer/radar), and the fine is probably what, €120? So not exorbitant and commensurate with the relatively minor level of the offense. This isn't the motion picture association of America threatening you with a $20k lawsuit because you downloaded Old School on BitTorrent in 2005.
