Generally, when kids are close to but not quite at the IAAT cutoff, get a very high SOL score, and have the support of their teacher, they're allowed to take Algebra I in 7th.  The cutoffs are more of a guideline that is often waived when the MS deems it appropriate to do so.  [/quote]
