So many of these perps are involved in the drug trade or are high themselves. It's like DC in the 80s. I thought decriminalizing pot might have a downward effect violence in DC, but it hasn't seemed to change anything for the better.
Unfortunately now all i see/smell in the am in DC is the smell of marijuana and walking strung out zombies. I’ve been in DC 22 years but I think it’s finally time to leave. Bowser and City Council are worse than the Barry years.
The pot smell is really getting me down, too. There's this sense of decline that's totally different from the Anthony Williams years when educated families were celebrated as the key to a normal and functional city. Now it's all strung out street people and perpetually adolescent doggie parents, and both groups reek of marijuana. I was a really evangelical urbanist until a few years ago but I'm starting to wonder if I should look for a new life somewhere else.
Well, we (the people of DC) voted in the marijuana easements so that's on us. I (stupidly) thought the rules on public smoking would be enforced. That part is on the Mayor + Council. Anyhow, fooled me once so I voted no on mushrooms. I would support any repeal effort for the marijuana laws. Shall we organize? Or as you say, we can leave I guess.
Smoking marijuana in public is a minor offence, and I think it was pitched as unfairly targeting certain groups if they enforced it, so they were encouraged not to enforce those laws.
