Used to be both working together but I don’t know if they changed that make it more equitable to minority kids
The selection process is race blind so that would be illegal.
Yes and life’s supposed to be fair, right?
They don't know the applicant's race or name, and don't know whether an applicant is a minority. That would also be illegal in the US. The allegations of some process where there's a different standard for minorities is definitely fakenews.
Just keep posting this over and over again until - one day maybe - the troll accepts s/he has to find a new sewage line to haunt.
You're attempting to mislead people by posting lies. If it weren't, it would be illegal, and the lawsuit wouldn't have been laughed out of court.
Yes, it is and has to be a race-blind selection, but you can read about it yourself from a credible third party news site.
The new process, like the previous processes, MCPS wrote, is “race-blind and based on multiple measures,”
https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/schools/mcps-files-to-dismiss-magnet-admissions-lawsuit/
Article is interesting. Shows how MCPS tried to screen out Asian kids without getting into legal trouble. Nice job MCPS. Fkers…
At least reference the more current article(s). Here is one from this week: https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/schools/lawsuit-challenging-mcps-magnet-admissions-dismissed/ Better yet, reference the actual memorandum opinion https://www.courthousenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/md-magnet-schools.pdf I know a blurb in the Bethesda Beat is faster and easier to digest, but if you want people to really understand what has happened then point them toward the court's documents.
So maybe you should start a thread on the MS admissions process, since it is different?
You may think it's different but the end objectives are the same - reduce Asian/white kids and increase black/Latino kids regardless of their performance compare to Asian/white kids
Okay, let's trade conspiracy theories then... How about establishment families in Montgomery County are terrified at how quickly and thoroughly they are being outworked by recently arrived Asian families. And now their kids are losing out en masse to Asians before they even finish high school? Take a moment to remember it was not so, so long ago that these magnet programs were nearly 100% white. Maybe some of those folks have developed and are grinding away on a long term plan to get Asian families to pack up and move elsewhere? Is that crazy enough for you? Should I work in aliens and agent provocateurs from Wakanda? <sigh>
