I used to buy into this perspective. But [b]the vehement reactions to Obama changed my mind. I[/b] thought, "oh, well, Republicans just hate any Democrat. It's not about race." But the intensity of the opposition to Obama was so over the top in relation to his policies that I eventually came to agree with the "it's racism" camp. Then, in 2016, they elected the most racist candidate in a wide open Republican primary; which further reinforced this view. [/quote]

I feel the same. The Rep. reaction to Obama was so visceral, so palpable that it can only be explained by racism. It was rivaled only by the hate for Hillary (not Bill quite as much) which is still so present that it can only be explained by sexism. The Repuglicans' answer to Obama and Hillary was to elect the most racist and openly sexist candidate they could come up with. They really showed us!
