I’m a teacher who does a welcome walk. I have no complaints—it’s really fun. We have all of Wednesday with no meetings and have nothing scheduled after the open house on Friday morning. And unless you’re on a specific committee or sped team, there are no meetings on Monday (except a big morning meeting). I’ve never had a problem getting my room ready. Same for my teammates. I’ve been teaching in FCPS for over a decade and always thought the teacher walk (even though I was never required to do it) was INSANE; but last year, when my students were paused, I went to each of their houses to drop-off work/notes for them to complete/review. Some of these houses I visited more than once. I actually really enjoyed it and the kids were always happy to see me (even if from a window). It can be rewarding.[/quote]
