A mandatory hearing takes place within a short time period - 20-30 days usually - and at that hearing the petitioner’s allegations are subject to the test of cross examination by the respondent and at that stage further evidence can be presented but often when it comes to sexual abuse or domestic violence, the evidence is largely testimonial.[/quote]
