Formal hotel worker here.  Call the manager of the hotel and talk to them.  Usually in these situations the hotel is put in Mom or Dad's name and on Mom or Dad's credit card.

Locally owned, older,  family owned hotels will have a lot more flexibility.  These places will say yes. You may have to pay a security deposit to protect against room damage.  I worked at a local, family owned hotel. We rented to 18 year olds (through the parents) but we charged more per night.

Chain hotels will likely say no.[/quote]
