My 7 year old still wets the bed. We wake her up around 11:00 pm to use the bathroom. Then she is dry until morning. If we don't wake her, she pees. She refuses to wear diapers. I don't consider it a problem. Both of my sisters were still wetting well past this age.
How often does she wet the bed? Its pretty much every night here. There is no way I could change sheets in the middle of the night and then again in the morning so thats why we put him in a diaper at night. Not to mention that my almost 7 year old sons mattress already had to be replaced and the current one isnt far from being replaced. Mattresses are not cheap.
She will wet it every night if we don't take her to pee at 11:00pm. We have a pad on her bed just in case we forget( we hardly forget because we are tired of washing sheets/ airing room). And one of my siblings did same. The other wet the bed less frequently.
How long ago did she stop wearing a diaper to bed. I personally prefer a diaper over a wet bed in the morning. It makes it less stressful in the morning for the both of us.
She stopped wearing a diaper about 6 months ago. I agree with you but she convinced DH that she shouldn't wear one. So I told him that it's okay as long as I don't have to deal with the consequences. Every once in a while when DH is not available, I have to deal with it, and it's very stressful.
Did she agree to help with the laundry or anything if she didnt want to wear one anymore? Is she bothered at all that she still wets the bed now that she isnt wearing a diaper? Is she uncomfortable at all waking up in a wet bed?
She is just uncomfortable with diapers/pull ups because it makes her feel like a baby. She would wake up and change her clothes and sheets when she realizes that the bed is wet (we have a bed pad so sometimes no sheet needs to be changed). Sometimes, she changes it in the middle of the night. She would help with laundry if DH asked( she currently folds all her laundry on the weekends), but asking her to help is more work than him doing it on his own on a weekday morning. So he has never asked her to. We usually do a great job of waking her at 11:00pm to pee so laundry is no longer often needed. But if I were primarily responsible for the laundry during the week if she wets the bed, she would still be in diapers. DH is empathic to a fault. He felt really bad when she said the diapers made her feel like a baby. I did not. Lol I am not worried about her bed wetting at 7( other than the stress of weekday morning laundy if we fail to wake her at 11:00 pm - again it rarely happens now) I had 2 sisters who wet the bed well past this age. Neither of them were bothered until about 9-10 years old. Even then, i cannot say thst it negatively impacted their lives or health either then or now. They are now healthy, reasonable and successful women in their late 30s and early 40s.
Does she have any older siblings? My younger son felt this way when he was 6 so his older brother who was 8 at the time volunteered to wear one for a night to show him that they weren't just for babies and it was enough to change his mind.
Wow that is a GREAT older brother!!! Not the OP here but the one with the almost 7 year old son. Did he actually wear one for the night? I am assuming it was a pull up due to him being 8. No siblings here, 1 is enough for me haha.
