We need an independent to run against Bowser in the general.
An insider said Karl would have ran as independent of Bowser got less than 50% of the votes.
How do we feel about Karl? I don't know a lot about him. I kind of want someone to the left of Bowser and to the right of R. White, who cares more about teachers (and getting them a contract) and figuring out crime. Does that person exist?
It also would be nice to have a mayor who does not act as the, uh, mistress of crony developer interests.
This is literally every Mayoral race in every major American city. The biggest and most influential donors in those races are real estate interests. Robert White would've been at the developers' beck and call too, if he had won.
The biggest political donors in every city are public sector unions, real estate industry (developers, construction, realtors, land use attys) and restauranteurs (closely aligned with real estate). Taxi companies also used to have a lot of political power in DC, until Uber came along and smashed the cartel.
