Good questions, so to clarify:

Freya is pronounced FRAY-ah. I do think it would take some getting used to for some people but it's very easy to pronounce once you know. I think it's becoming more popular in the US and we live in a pretty cosmopolitan area (lots of immigrants and people who travel a lot), so I'm not too worried about pronunciation.

Lyra would be LIE-ruh, like the main character in the Golden Compass books, which I love. Though someone else actually suggested Lyric as an alternative, and I kind of like it? I know it's a bit out there for DCUM, but DH and I are both musicians and I think it's pretty.

If we did Ayla, we would pronounce it AY-lah, not EYE-lah (if we go with the second pronunciation we will just use Isla).
