I'm surprised to see so many 9th graders taking AP classes. A long time ago it was mostly 11th and 12th. No wonder they have homework!
It's a money game - the classes and test are dumbed down for profit - and still over 50% even in MCPS can not get a 4 or higher and have to retake the class in college anyway.
Can you try to not lose sight of the fact that high school students are doing college level work and, occasionally, scoring high enough to get credit from some colleges? You are criticizing MCPS because less than 50% of of it's high school AP students can demonstrate subject understanding at the same level as a college students? Take a step back and appreciate the forest.
You think a teacher with a BA from Towson is teaching college level courses? They are dumbed down for profit.
I imagine some of the MCPS students that score 5s on their AP exams get there all on their own. And I imagine some of them get a little support and direction from their teachers... even the teachers that went to Towson :D
