This is a two-person race. Finley couldn't even win the support of progressive orgs like GGW (endorsed Bergmann, then endorsed Frumin) or Sunrise (he split the Sunrise vote with Henry Cohen, who has dropped out and endorsed Frumin). I probably agree more with Finley than I do Frumin (I was previously a Duncan supporter), but we need to back Matt now. Finley doesn't have the endorsements, the donors, or the massive grassroots support that Frumin has. We cannot let Goulet win, and Frumin is the only shot at beating him.
This is hot garbage. If you are a true YIMBY he’s the only one in the race worth voting for and he has a real chance to win if all YIMBYs would stop with a this 8th dimensional chess and vote for who represents the policies they support.
Finley has 153 in-Ward supporters, ie people who will actually vote for him: https://dcgeekery.com/dc-campaign-finance/2022/council-ward-3/finley/points How is that viable in a race where something like 13,000 people will vote?
Those are donors not supporters. If all of the YIMBY people who agreed with him in the issues voted for him instead of convincing themselves that he cannot win and therefore voting for a lesser candidate, it would be a much different outcome. Everyone in DC thinks they are playing out an episode of House of Cards when they could just vote their conscience and vote for Finley.
Donations are a barometer for support. Compare his numbers to the others in the race.
Endorsements are also a barometer of support. Every YIMBY and YIMBY organization should be endorsing the only remaining true YIMBY left in the race.
Greater Greater Washington, one of the most YIMBY organizations out there, endorsed Frumin. He is definitely not as in step with their positions as Finley is, but they realize how important it is to prevent Goulet from winning this election. I don't agree with all of Frumin's positions either, but we have to come together and not let out-of-state money buy this council race. Frumin is our only shot at that.
