My husband is 50 and I’m 52 and we put the 25-35 year olds to shame at our gym and group exercise classes. He still lifts more and can run faster. We can hold planks endlessly. We have energy. Our kids are 14 and 16.5. I honestly don’t feel any different than I did 10-15 years ago and my clothes from before then still fit. Use it or lose it” is very real. 50 is when the divide really starts to happen based on people’s level of activity and lifestyle over the past decades.
Preach sister! You and your husband probably eat clean most of the time too. Having these values in common really help a lot of marriages.
We eat healthy most of the time--oatmeal/fruit for breakfast, light lunch, etc. early dinner with our teens is heavier. We definitely have cheat days...and sometimes weeks. We also enjoy wine and cocktails--but try to limit it to the weekend now. However, I met him when he was 24 and I was 26 and we both were athletic and heavily into fitness our entire lives. It's just part of the day. And now that we both work from home since Covid, we exercise together usually. We both get b*lchy and feel gross if we miss a day of working out, but we aren't obsessive. Vacations involve a lot of active things with our boys--kayaking, hikes, etc.
