As to OP's question: DD brought FAR too many clothes!! She needed only about half of them. A pair of sandals, two pairs of sneakers, flip flops for the shower, and some winter boots is all she ended up wearing. The extra shoes just gathered dust. One or two sun dresses, several pairs of jeans and other pants, t-shirts, sweaters, coats and jackets, and some jewelry and scarves. She brought some extra pillows for her bed, but ended up buying one of those big pillows with arms (reading pillow?) for her sophomore year. Posters, fairy lights, a decorative lamp and a small (plastic) chest of drawers to use as a bedside table, plus a scarf to throw over it. And some curtains with tension rods to block out light so she could sleep in the AM. Her freshman dorm room only had one window. Lamp, toiletries, computer and school type supplies. But that's basically it! Maybe a rug, but they get soooo dirty, and the kids never wash them. And I insisted on a Dust Buster, but I don't think it ever got used. Oh, and water filter pitcher for clean water, water bottle, and mini-fridge -- essential.

But not much else, especially clothing. Kid don't wear tons and tons of clothes, and if they bring too many, they never do their laundry!! [/quote]
