He’s brilliant and an exceptional communicator. He is, by far, the best messenger the democrats have right now. Of course, he’s being used more than any cabinet member in history. And, yes, he will be president one day.
I volunteered for his campaign, and I'm doubtful of this. He just didn't end up resonating enough with voters. But he's definitely impressive and has a strong career ahead of him. I know people who know him personally, and they say he was always clearly headed for big things. I hope it's more than cable news, though. Post-transportation secretary I could maybe see him high up in university administration and then eventually in a higher profile cabinet position (like Sec of State). Unless the US electorate changes significantly or Buttigieg does, I struggle to see him winning nationwide office.
Good for you. I’ve been a member of Team Pete since day one, and I think he will become POTUS. Goodness knows, this country needs that man right now.
…and I am a Black woman, and his support from Black people is just fine. Please don’t repeat media talking points to me.
Find it funny PP focused on that but Pete would never get support from the the 97% Christian White Midwest where he was born-and-raised. Instead of blaming minorities, take a look at your own demographics. The same sort of people sunk Clinton for the exact same reason - there was something they didn't like about them.
You're talking the general election. I'm talking the primaries. Pete will have trouble getting the democratic nomination until he does better with Black voters. That's just a fact. And I'm not blaming them...it's on Pete to do better with voters of color.
Why would we want him to get the Democratic nomination when he can't win the general?
I think he can win the general but he HAS TO GET THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION FIRST.
I don't think he can win either and after 2016 I'm done with pet project candidates the population can't stand. Lost four years of my life after the Clinton fiasco and half the population has PTSD from the former administration. No thanks.
Pete is like having the personification of the CIA run for president. He feels comforting and familiar, and always confident about his next play. But then you look at the actual recent history of bad miscalculations and missteps and it is *really* hard to continue to buy into the calm confidence.
