Austin is a dry heat so its not as humid as DC, though its not as dry as Arizona. I grew up in the South, went to school in Austin and I was shocked by the heat. It feels like you have your own personal sun on your shoulder. Like the sun is just right there. I think it is awful. I would try to visit in October if you can. Don't go in the summer.
Austin is not dry heat. I lived there for years. It’s not as muggy as Houston, but certainly not a dry heat like Denver. The humidity does fluctuate a lot more than Houston, so some days are “better”.
NP: I thought not, since the quote from the irritated Googler said 88% humidity. I've not been to Austin or San Antonio. Is there a good time of year to visit, taking into account temp, humidity, and storms (tornados and T-storms). Maybe fall?
