In high school, I was pressured into dating a boy who converted because he had a crush on me because otherwise he might leave the church and go to hell. I was super devout so this terrified me and I caved and dated him for a few months. He violently raped me and when I stopped going to church because of it, everyone took his side and insulted me behind my back. He had a temple wedding earlier this year so I guess everyone still thinks he's great.

I went to therapy for years but I'm still extremely uncomfortable being alone with men other than my husband and still have a lot of anxiety and occasional panic attacks. I didn't go to church again for years. I tried visiting an LDS ward in Nova once when I was trying to figure out where to start going to church and just being in the building freaked me out too much. I ended up converting to Eastern Orthodoxy and I'm really happy there. [/quote]
