Also, what if that results in the family not being to take a trip all together perhaps @ summer or winter break, if one spouse used up vacation time or budget?  Kind of mean.  Sounds like your kids will have some fun options, OP.  I like the idea of letting each kid (and you!) set the agenda for one day, then adding in one or 2 extras.[/quote]

Sounds like one parent is using PTO for this staycation anyway. Better to go solo than wait around for a vacation together that never comes. That is how it has been with my spouse. Get everyone ramped up to go and then oops, can’t go. [/quote]
