I switched to my husband's insurance, which thankfully covered part of it (although w/ high deductible), and we used our savings for the rest. The only upside to having struggled with infertility for years was being in mid-30s and thankfully financially in a good place to be able to pay for it. If insurance wouldn't have covered anything, we would have done the shared risk program at SGF.
I'm just starting down this path...but this is also expensive isn't it? I know you get your money back if you don't get a baby, but if you do get a baby you're broke and then have to pay for a baby? I don't know. I'm probably going to be like the other dual fed in this thread who chose to remain childless (I'm not the OP).
We did this and at the time (5 yrs ago) it was like $20k + $5k for meds. so yes still expensive, but not like paying for cycle after cycle. At least some financial certainty when everything else was so uncertain. We paid the $25k from savings.
