TJ lost to Lake Braddock high school in Science Olympiad state competition. Good job Lake Braddock high school!! This is a lesson for parents who think there’s no better high school than TJ.
More evidence that the old admission process just wasn't working.
TJ dominated Lake Braddock twice and then narrowly lost to Lake Braddock at the state competition. Braddock has a good team and TJ had a bad day. It happens. The new admissions criteria is good for broadening access. It's not particularly good at selecting competitive students who win at competitions. I think most pro-reform supporters can acknowledge that.
Pro-reform here and I would agree completely. I think they will still select many students who will be capable of winning competitions, but a) those students might very well have better things to do with their time and b) they really don't need more than a few of them for each competition in order to be successful.
