There are no sibling preference. It’s feeder preference. This is what DCI has said. In future, if there are more feeder kids then spots, I suspect it will be a lottery for those kids. The ones that don’t get in, then they get spots of other language tracks not taken by feeder kids. Easy enough. I doubt above is going to happen with not enough spots for feeder kids. Not everyone tracks to DCI. In addition, they are already approved for many more spots so the school can expand if they want to. We will need to wait and see how things play out. What is certain is that there is no saved slots for non-feeder kids and they will be shut as soon as the expansion grades enters from the feeder schools.
cite? It says on the DCI page on MySchoolDC that there is sibling preference btw.
My understanding is that there is no sibling + feeder not that there is no sibling preference. So, you could have an older child that got in with feeder preference but your younger child in a feeder could not get in and being a sibling would not bump them up over feeder + no sibling.
So basically some kids from MV and Stokes and occasionally DCB are going to be outta luck, even if they are siblings. Man.
Stokes is planning their own middle school near the EE campus. Not sure how realistic DCI would be for many of the EE kids given the commute. That would have to be one of the furthest possible if you lived near the EE campus. I am sure some would do it, but it would be awful.
I predict Stokes is going to require all their kids to go to the new middle school. Starting a new middle school, you need money and kids. If this turns out to be the case, there will be more spots for all the other feeders.
