Week 4- 2022 VA Boys Public 6A “Unofficial” Rankings[u] 1. Robinson (6-0) Results: Def. #10 Alexandria City 14-1, Def. Woodson 20-5 Analysis: Looking really strong, with easy wins against two decent opponents. In a class of their own for now. Back-to-back-to-back games this coming week at the Spring Break tourney hosted by Robinson and Woodson. Despite the heavy load, Rams should win all three games without too much trouble. Up this week: vs. Colgan (4/4), vs. Chantilly (4/5), vs. Westfield (4/6) 2. Patriot (5-0) Results: Leading John Champe when game postponed. Analysis: Win against Yorktown looks more impressive after Yorktown takes down Madison. That, combined with unofficial reports of Patriot crushing Champe before the game was called for weather, moves Patriot back up to #2. Battlefield and Patriot are basically 2a and 2b, and they get to settle this one on the field this week. Matchup with Battlefield is easily the game of the week. Too close to call - Vegas has this one as a pick 'em. Up this week: at #3 Battlefield (4/4) 3. Battlefield (5-0) Results: Def. John Champe 16-5 Analysis: John Champe was supposed to be the #7 team in Virginia according to LaxNumbers rankings and Battlefield handled them with ease. Huge matchup with Patriot coming up is the game of the week. Up this week: vs. #2 Patriot (4/4) 4. Yorktown (3-2) Results: Def. #8 Oakton 12-6, Def. #4 Madison 9-5 Analysis: Biggest mover after impressive wins against Oakton and Madison. Four goal loss to Robinson doesn’t seem so bad any more, with Robinson looking really strong. Yorktown looks like they are still the team to beat in the Liberty District. Easy week ahead after a brutal early season schedule. Up this week: vs. Wakefield (4/4), at Washington-Liberty (4/6) 5. Lake Braddock (4-1) Results: Def. South Lakes 13-3, Def. #7 West Potomac 20-4 Analysis: Easy win against South Lakes and absolutely destroyed West Potomac, with Lake Braddock scoring at will and West Potomac looking defenseless. Playing in the Spring Break tourney with a great chance to show that they belong with the big dogs. Game against Madison should be excellent. Up this week: vs. #6 Madison (4/4), vs. #7 Oakton (4/5), vs. Chantilly (4/6) 6. Madison (4-2) Results: Def. Wakefield 14-1, Lost to #6 Yorktown 9-5 Analysis: Easy win against Wakefield, but a tough loss to a resurgent Yorktown team. Another tough week ahead at the tourney with back-to-back-to back games against solid opponents. Game against Lake Braddock is the second game of the week to watch. Expecting Madison to come out hot and regain the #5 spot. Up this week: at #5 Lake Braddock (4/4), at #10 West Potomac (4/5), at Woodson (4/6) 7. Oakton (4-2) Results: Lost to #6 Yorktown 12-6 Analysis: Lost to Yorktown, who is looking like a top-5 team again. Another three game week for Oakton coming up at the tourney including tough matchups with Lake Braddock and West Potomac. Up this week: vs. McLean (4/4), at Lake Braddock (4/5), at West Potomac (4/6) 8. Langley (2-2) Results: Lost to Sidwell Friends 13-9 Analysis: Jumped out to an early 5-1 lead but faded down the stretch when Sidwell’s goalie got hot. Close OT loss to Oakton is the only thing holding Langley to this spot. Tough Spring Break matchup against IAC powerhouse Landon. Expect Langley to be overwhelmed by Landon’s athleticism. Up this week: vs. Landon (4/4) 9. West Springfield (5-0) Results: Def. Marshall 18-2, Def. Fairfax 18-8 Analysis: Easy wins but an exceptionally easy schedule so far. Hard to tell if West Springfield is for real. Taking Spring Break off. End of the season will be tougher with Alexandria City, Woodson, South County and Robinson to finish. Up this week: No games 10. West Potomac: (4-1) Results: Def. Northern Calvert 7-6, Lost to #5 Lake Braddock 20-4 Analysis: Hard to keep West Potomac in the top 10 after that lopsided loss to Lake Braddock, but win against Northern Calvert was solid, and West Potomac beat Chantilly and probably is still better than the next contenders. Tough back-to-back coming up with Westfield and Madison. Westfield has a chance to join the top 10 with a victory. Up this week: vs. Westfield (4/4), vs. #6 Madison (4/5), vs. #7 Oakton (4/6) Others Receiving Votes: Alexandria City (6-1), Westfield (4-2), Chantilly (3-2) Dropped out: Alexandria City (6-1) – Lost to Robinson 14-1
