You only have to have a 3.5 to apply and be eligible for selection. The average GPA of offered students was 3.95 or so, significantly higher than the 3.90 than it used to be. Now, if the C4TJ people continue to push so hard that we end up with a lottery, then you might have this issue. But given that it will hurt their own kids to do so, I'd be surprised if they continue to push.
