District 3 - Julie Yang District 5 - Valerie M. Coll At Large - Michael Friar (and Joftus? After the 2M+ Kid Museum fiasco? Please. No joking around.) The real question is District 1 - Jay Guan vs Grace Rivera-Oven? Thoughts?
You know Fryar is just as crazy as Dawn, right? They’re even running their campaigns together as a team.
And yet they're still better than the alternatives that intend to rubber stamp whatever MCEA tells them to do. What a sad set of candidates we have.
I haven’t seen any evidence of that for the other BOE at large candidates.
Just look at who we have for options: Giandomenico- Hasn't been able to articulate a single substantive policy position, nor has he been able to provide a substantive critique of any particular existing policy or past decision. Plus his kid isn't even in elementary school yet. There's no way he'd be willing and able to hold anyone in MCPS accountable, nor does he have any ideas of his own. Silvestre- Admittedly, one of the least bad current members of the Board. But still a member of the Board that has failed to provide meaningful oversight to MCPS, Smith, and Mcknight. She had her chance and she failed. Fryar- A bit odd, but a unique background and a clear willingness and ability to ask the hard questions that other BoE members wouldn't dare of MCPS administrators. Under the current circumstances, where the BoE has a long history of simply rubber stamping whatever the Superintendent says, Fryar seems like the only choice.
Although I appreciate this far-right take on MCPS, I think. you're a bit out of touch with the mainstream. Most of us are very happy with how they have helped sherherded us through this difficult time. As always, they will be re-elected by a landslide.
Spending millions in covid money for bocce ball, discrimination training, and Kid Museum (that Joffus has a direct tie to)? Spending 160 million on electric busses that we're not even certain there's enough electricity to recharge or can service the long distance routes? Infecting over 2100 staff and teachers and 9% of the student population in January because they didn't have a plan, to the point of having to request bus support from the National Guard? The astronomical number open OCR investigation cases still open at the beginning of the school year with the DofEd OCR? The business with the ES boundaries skipping communities? In my opinion, they're incompetent fools that need to be removed from office (if they're not arrested first).
You are way more than a bit out of touch with the mainstream.
