^^ Probably from a tenured clown..  Go to VT.  Get that tech job and make enough money in 10 years that a tenure tracker will make in 30.  After those 10 years, if you get the hankering to teach, find a funded PhD program somewhere, get tenured and coast. [/quote]

You and I are not in disagreement. If OP's kid wants to get a CS degree to work in tech, the family will get a better ROI from VT or W&M.

The real advantage of NYU is the ability to do internships throughout the year in NYC. You can intern at Google, Meta, Snap, etc during the school year and will have a lot less competition for those positions.[/quote]
