People always tell me my baby is cute but I wonder if that is just nice talk. I think he is gorgeous but my husband tells me I have mom eyes? Maybe we all have mom eyes but too many random people tell me he is cute!
What else are they going to say? We should all aim for feeling like our children are special and wonderful, while also understanding that the world doesn't see them in the same way. If you have the first part, but lack the self-awareness for the 2nd part, you can become an insufferable parent.
This. I have a friend who recently said “I’m constantly shocked at how objectively traditionally good looking my kids are.” Lol. The word objective made me laugh. And yes she and her husband are totally insufferable about their kids. When I met her when they were toddlers she was already calling her oldest a “heartbreaker.”
I have a friend who uses this terminology about her and my 7 year old girls and only SOME of their classmates. I’m no saint but I hate talking about kids this way. She’s done it since they were toddlers.
Same, I can't stand this terminology because a) you're sexualizing little kids and b) you're proud they might emotionally hurt others by rejecting them? Wtf.
