Lafayette parents thought that if they demonstrated any willingness whatsoever to drive East, they'd be pulled out of Deal-Wilson with SES and used to create a cohort that could establish a third high-performing by-right middle school (and 2nd high school) in DCPS. Rather than risk that remote outcome, they stayed in daycare another year.
This poster is spot on. Whatever the stated reasons (driving, walking, optics, blah) this ^^^ is the bottom line. And, they're not wrong at all about the risk.
+1000. Both PPs. Lafayette parents willing to pay extra for daycare, overcrowd new building to avoid at all costs the possibility of being pushed into W4 feeder. The only way to make another successful by-right MS and HS like Deal/Wilson (Wells/Coolidge?) but we all know CCDC parents would rather go private or move to MD than risk this 10-15 years down the line. Who needs formal redlining when human instincts and suppressed prejudices do the job anyway!
