OP here. Thanks all! It is not a criminal complaint. A teacher treated my child very unfairly, and I consider the incident a form of bullying from the teacher.
Good luck, OP. But keep in mind this isn't a public school and there aren't ombusdman and channels to appeal to. First, talk to the teacher.
Yes, I agree that this is not like a public school. The process seems unclear to me. I did talk to the teacher and she flat out told me what she did to my child…which was absolutely unacceptable, inappropriate and mind boggling. My first thought is that the school will defend her so that is why I was looking to find external resources to file a complaint.
OP, sorry for what has happened. You didn't share the details, but mother to mother we can all understand how we feel when our child is wronged. That being said, because Private schools are communities of choice ( your's to attend and their's to keep you ) what is right is not always enforceable, though it should be. Politics in every school is the same: to show that you are a reasonable parent ( which is needed if you are going to go to the Principal ) you First must try to resolve the issue with the teacher. Next, if that didn't work, take your notes from that convo and request an appointment with the Principal to discuss. Keep in mind, the teacher has probably already briefed the principal that you will be coming. Between your date of appointment request and the meeting, try to cool off and get maybe intel from other parents you trust ( both about the Principal and the teacher) Do not over play you hand or burn a bridge. You cannot really demand anything in a Private School because they can always just revoke your contract for next year. Probe the Principal's leadership style a bit, go for what you can achieve , count your years left in the school and whether you need a Rec to apply out and tread carefully. Good Luck
