+1.  Interesting responses here—most people want a guest bathroom/powder room so guests (including relatives) don’t see medication, tampons, personal care items, etc, but a tween girl should be forced to give up her privacy by her step-brother seeing all of this?  Just because they’re both close now doesn’t mean they won’t approach privacy in the future.[/quote]

Step-siblings are a unique type of family—I’m not wild about putting opposite-gender, not blood-related tweens in such close quarters.  Plus, I can say there’s plenty of family members I wouldn’t want to be forced to have no privacy with.[/quote]

I'm sorry, using the same bathroom as someone at different times is not "no privacy".
