Congrats to your daughter! It's a lucky thing to have choices. Those girls' schools are so different! Our DD is in her first year at Madeira, couldn't be happier. She didn't consider Holton or Stone Ridge, but also has friends at Holton there for whom it's a great fit. (We just don't know anyone at stone Ridge. Not a dig on it by any means.) Admitted student visits--if the school is having them--are an excellent way to get a feel for a school and were super helpful to our DD in deciding between Madeira and two other co-ed schools she was accepted at last year. She really liked the other two schools--even one that she was originally less enthusiastic about--but when she got to the school she ended up choosing, it just felt right. Such an intangible thing--the feel, the vibe, the fit. But she recognized it immediately as the best choice _for her_. For another kid, they could have had the same reaction at an entirely other school.
Sorry--I'm the PP here and realize I should have indicated that that was in response to the Holton/Stone Ridge/Madeira/two coed schools poster. And I also realize it's insensitive to the person whose daughter didn't get into Madeira. Really, who knows how these decisions fall out in "typical" times, much less in pandemic pressure? FWIW, we have found the Admissions Staff to be decidedly kind and human, not just in initial/application interactions but since then as well. I can't imagine a gentle, exploratory call would be rebuffed, even if they have to deliver hard news.
