Nobody said not being in Honors at UMD or going to trade school is.  OP is just astonished that there are so many kids with such great stats who aren’t getting into their choice of school.    I get it.   It’s sobering g to read these posts.  One would think no one goes to college with all of the nervousness and stress. [/quote]

You have 800+ graduating students in a large high school.  Each school is only going to take in so many students.  Lots of very smart students at the  W schools, which is why some of us avoid them.  Would you rather have a really smart student in the middle of the pack at a W school or a really smart student, at another school who is in the top 20%?   If  UMD takes 60 students per school and takes them from the top....[/quote]
