And while I understand those who say it is a national park and you don't need to have detailed plans, when you are traveling with kids and the park is so big, I found it super useful to have a daily plan in advance so that we could maximize our time, do what was of most interest to us, and be efficient in our sightseeing (given the park takes hours to get from one side to the other).

We absolutely loved our trip last year with our 9 and 11 year old kids.  It was one of our favorite family trips.  One of everyone's favorite parts was the Old West Cowboy Cookout in Roosevelt where you take a horseback ride out to a beautiful location and had a cookout.  We rode our horses right through several herds of bison and they were so close it was almost scary!  Kids LOVED this.[/quote]
