I'm not sure why people who don't want to provide useful suggestions would be on a travel forum where people are just kindly asking for advice and waste the time to just post snarky comments. In any event, I think someone else said this, but I found the TripAdvisor forums for Yellowstone and GTNP to be invaluable in planning our trip last August. Lots of experts on there who are more than happy to provide detailed advice and even come up with daily itineraries for you or give feedback on your own itinerary. That is how I planned our whole trip. And while I understand those who say it is a national park and you don't need to have detailed plans, when you are traveling with kids and the park is so big, I found it super useful to have a daily plan in advance so that we could maximize our time, do what was of most interest to us, and be efficient in our sightseeing (given the park takes hours to get from one side to the other). We absolutely loved our trip last year with our 9 and 11 year old kids. It was one of our favorite family trips. One of everyone's favorite parts was the Old West Cowboy Cookout in Roosevelt where you take a horseback ride out to a beautiful location and had a cookout. We rode our horses right through several herds of bison and they were so close it was almost scary! Kids LOVED this.
