They say that AAVE is a legitimate dialect of speech and shouldn’t be treated as “incorrect” English. I think that’s completely fair and legitimate. But it is weird to them get defensive about who is fluent in that dialect. Speaking a particular a dialect is a linguistic skill and fluency is not appropriation. Also, Awkwafina was the best thing about Shang-Chi, which was a really fun movie. [/quote]
