My DC is not a big sports fan but does go to a lot of football, basketball, and hockey games (good friends are all hockey players), and it is more about the spirit, comraderie, etc. And of course the tailgating and parties! The reason the football games are often not full is because UCLA plays at the Rose Bowl and it is far from campus and a traffic nightmare to get to! Basketball games are always packed and students line up outside Pauley Pavilon all day to get a seat. This discussion has focused on sports, but I think a general love of school is also strong school spirit. [/quote]
