A smart, wealthy black kid who acts up is more likely to be suspended and expelled than a similarly situated white boy. A black or brown kid in a room full of white kids can feel the burden to "represent" an entire class of people, in a way that their white peers are not asked to (and in a way that creates more pressure than is appropriate for a child). So while I take your point that there is more to diversity than melanin, economic diversity will never be enough on its own.[/quote]
